四十年代的新加坡牛车水适逢农历鬼节，在多民族聚居的牛车水有着众多的灵异鬼怪传说。而居住在新加坡的华人们，则在此之前刚听说了一个近似灵异，却又让人唏嘘的爱情故事。 广州，失业青年梁广在朋友的推荐下，前往老字号药油厂“广昌堂”见工，女友秀珍支持梁广的选择，并希望梁广能借此立业安家。在秀珍的精心打理下，梁广的面貌焕然一新，自信满满的前往广昌堂见工。不料，当梁广来到广昌堂时，工厂上下都大吃一惊。原来梁广竟然同他们失踪多年的三老板崔正广形同一人。而主管寿伯当即拒绝梁广留在广昌堂任职，这让梁广颇为困惑不解。失意的梁广准备离开广昌堂时，无意间搭救了二老板崔正隆而导致受伤，被安排在广昌堂内修养调理。当晚，梁广无意间发现楼上的小阁楼里似乎有着不可告人的秘密……。The physician's death orphans his two adolescent daughters.
