When Jane's math teacher oversteps his bounds, an apathetic high school administration forces Jane and Merritt to take matters into their own hands, driving their relationship into further turmoil and inciting deadly consequences....。影片讲述的是北京胡同里的一个三口之家的故事。 丈夫赵建平，35岁，是一家小型装修公司的设计人员。妻子娟子，30岁，在某服装厂就职。他们有个6岁的儿子，活泼可爱，小名叫小兔子。娟子生性好强，争取到了赴厦门学习的机会。赵建平虽然不赞同妻子的决定，但最终还是随了她的心愿。天有不测风云。娟子走后，赵建平所在的装修公司因违章施工酿成大火。老板被拘，公司解体，赵建平一夜之间没了工作。因失火而蒙受损失的业主认为赵建平是老板的合伙人，不分青红对赵建平大打出手。撕打中，业主不慎身负重伤，赵建平被迫支付巨额医药费。就此，生活陷入困境……。
