A woman gets an opportunity to save the life of a 12-year old boy who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm which happened 25 years ago, by getting connected through the television set during a similar storm in the present。徳川家対豊臣家の攻防を軸に据えた時代劇に、タイトル通りの特撮による“大龍巻“を巻き起こす、パニック・スペクタクルの要素を加えた大作。大阪・夏の陣で、徳川勢の攻撃を受け豊臣方の大坂城は陥落した。徳川方に寝返った者もいたが、主人公たち3人や侍女らは市中へと紛れ逃げ延びた。その後、裏切り者や忍者たちと関わっていくが……。ラスト近くの龍巻シーンが圧巻。。
