高森美由紀の小説「ジャパン・ディグニティ」を映像化した本作は、青森の伝統工芸である津軽塗、通称“バカ塗り”をテーマにした物語。何をやってもうまくいかず自信を持てない青木美也子が、津軽塗職人の寡黙な父・清史郎との暮らしの中で津軽塗に改めて向き合い、自分の進む道を見つけていくさまが描かれる。。Mike and Danny fly a cropduster, but because of Danny's gambling debts, a local sheriff takes custody of it. Trying to earn money, they hitch-hike to the World's Fair in Seattle and, while Danny tries to earn money playing poker, Mike takes care of a small girl whose father has disappeared. Being a ladies' man, he also finds the time to court a young nurse.。
