徐家为世代书香，老爷子徐简博官至两朝太子太傅，为阻止废除科举缢死在太学监。长子徐书成留洋，女儿徐书容和义子陆书白在老家支撑家塾。十五年后徐书成留洋归来，陆书白也来到北平，兄弟同入新文化运动，感情及立场却逐渐对立。新文化运动后期，徐书成反思西学，开始怀念故学。陆书白与恋人流亡美利坚，浑不知徐书容给他生了个儿子徐天。1937年徐天十六岁，日军进了易水，徐家私塾被改造成华北第一个日式学校，徐书成死在自己的课堂上，香木镇成了前线。1949徐天成了徐家最后一位教师，徐天第三代方乐荣出生。1952年全国教育私立转公立，徐家私塾几番起伏彻底消失。徐天去公立学校报到，方乐荣7岁带上了红领巾。。A feature length documentary on the acclaimed work and eclectic career of maverick filmmaker Larry Cohen (BLACK CAESAR, GOD TOLD ME TO, Q THE WINGED SERPENT, THE STUFF, PHONE BOOTH).。The story is set in the 1930s, somewhere in the mountains in Romania.
